The resistance – the Pěst organisation

During the Second World War Oldřich Lajsek took an active part in the resistance against the Nazi occupation in the organisation Pěst (Fist).

Copying drawings for the partisans

In the resistance he could use his artistic talent and technical education for the first time – in 1944 he had graduated from the Higher Industrial School of Mechanical Engineering in Kutná Hora. In a design office he secretly made copies of technical drawings of military weapons, which then helped to arm the partisans.

Discovered

He was later discovered; he escaped execution only because the war was coming to an end.

Czech Union of Freedom Fighters

For his resistance activities he later became a member of the Czech Union of Freedom Fighters.
